The Tutorial

The game will start with a Tutorial. You will be given directions on how to play. You will be taught how to upgrade your buildings &

 how to produce troops & attack. The Tutorial will make you spend gems to boost the work. if you haven't yet started the Tutorial, do NOT spend the gems, rather wait for the constructions to finish. Gems are the most special currency in game which are hard to find & will help you later onward in game to boost your work by allowing you to build more builders using Gems. 

Shield

Once the Tutorial is finished, you will be under a shield for about 3 days. Having a shield means that no other player can attack you as long as you have the shield but attacking an opponent will end your shield & you will be vulnerable to others. Use these 3 days wisely & plan to make your base stronger & better. Be active & help your base grow.

The First 2 days

Firstly, you will require a lot of resources, for that, upgrade your Elixir Collectors & Gold mines to the maximum level you can. There is no need to make any sort of defensive building or traps or walls in the start since you are given a 3 day shield. Attack the Goblins in the single player missions to gain resources. There will come a time when the next base of the goblins will be too strong for you to handle. It means it's time to let go of the single player campaign until you become a little stronger.

A few things to keep in mind,

• Upgrade all your buildings before you upgrade your Town hall 
• Do not attack in the start & keep your 3 day shield 
• Keep upgrading everything you can except the defensive buildings, traps & walls. Even if you reach the point where you are supposed to upgrade your town hall, do so.

The Last Day

• Now you only have one day under the shield. Now is the time to make those defensive buildings and get ready to defend your base before the shield runs out.
• Put traps near the most valuable buildings such as the Storage or a defensive building since as long as you have a defensive building, your chance of winning the battle stays.
• Build walls to protect your base but remember to only put certain buildings such as the defensive buildings & your Town hall inside the walls. Other buildings are not recommended to be placed inside the walls.

Base Layouts

Now, in order to build a strong defense, you must choose a good base layout. In the start, no one is an expert in making a base strong enough, so it's better to search for one or ask another experienced player to help you out in making one.

Since when most of the times the shield ends, players are at Town Hall 3, I will post a layout for that Town hall in order to help you out in making a good defensive base against Town hall 3 opponents or Town hall 4 as well.



Things to keep in mind while selecting a base layout

• Town Hall should be centralized 
• Defenses should be safe 
• Storage should be safe (Only for higher Town hall levels) 
• Walls should only enclose defensive buildings and Town hall 
• Walls should be closed 
• Place your bomb traps in pairs where the enemy is most likely to drop his troops
